Selectboard OK’s loan for Junction Store and Deli

BRANDON — The Junction Store and Deli will be getting a new look thanks to the Brandon Revolving Loan Fund. The Brandon selectboard approved the loan to the store, located at the junction of Routes 53 and 73, at the board’s Jan. 28 meeting.

“The redevelopment and renovation of a longstanding general store represents an investment that will allow this important Forest Dale business to continue to serve locals and our valued visitors for many years to come,” said Bill Moore, the town’s economic development officer.

The Brandon Revolving Loan Fund committee met on Jan. 22 to consider a loan request from Elraina Flanders and Timothy Blow on behalf of the Junction Store and Deli. The members voted unanimously to approve a $30,000 loan for the improvements critical to the growth of the store. The selectboard agreed and the loan was approved. “They are going to do some cosmetic changes,” said Moore. “As well as adding a bathroom and tables. They are also going to add new deli refrigerators. They are really excited and should start the work very soon.”
