After a 5-month competition with a particularly talented field, Brandon’s own Shannon Wright took the top slot as the winner of the whole shebang.
Last Saturday night, the 10 competitors in this year’s Brandon Idol sang an eclectic mix of the 80s’ best, and sometimes cheesiest, tunes.
With a wildly varied song list that included material from such disparate acts as Elvis, Sinatra, and Bowie, the contestants in Brandon Idol took the competition into the 50s & 60s on Saturday night at Brandon Town Hall.
Backed by the Idol Band—Ross Edmunds, Bryon Billado and Kenny Cifone—the singers brought to the stage heartbreak songs, revenge songs, and the always popular love songs!
The local singing competition put on by the Brandon Town Recreation Department brings in talent from across the state to compete for fame, prestige, and a grand prize of $1,000.
